What is EDM music in bars?

EDM stands for Electronic Dance Music. This is an electronic music genre. It is also known by other names such as techno music, club music or simply dance music. This is a vibrant music genre created 100% by electronic devices. This type of music is often played at nightclubs, lively parties or at festivals.

EDM music originated in the US and now it has become a popular and beloved music genre in most countries around the world. Not only that, in Vietnam, EDM music is also widely accepted in bars and clubs besides Vinahouse music.

Sub-genres of EDM music in bars

EDM comes in many different sub-genres, and EDM music in bars usually includes the following sub-genres:

• House: instrumental music with a vibrant sound mixed with a bit of mystery and fantasy. The sound of drums and bass hit in a fast manner is the characteristic of this sub-genre.
• Trance: music that emphasizes electronic sounds, somewhat like house music but easier to listen to.
• Electro: music mainly made by electronic drums and other instruments. It does not use vocals in the song, or if any, edited, distorted voices. 
• Techno: this is the most typical sub-genre of EDM music. Techno has a cheerful, vibrant and powerful melody. The most used instruments to play this sub-genre are keyboards, electronic drums and bass. 
• Dubstep: This music is quite heavy with drums and bass accompanied by a deep, warm voice.
• Moombathon: this music is somewhat inferior to other EDM sub-genres. Although the rhythm and rhythm are somewhat similar to House, Moombathon is actually a combination of house and reggaeton.
• Trip Hop: This genre of music is somewhat inferior to other EDM genres. This is downtempo electronic music, also known as a variation of jazz, funk or soul music.
